What is the ketogenic diet

The Keto is a diet very low in carbohydrates and very rich in fats, which converts the body in a real fat burning machine, helping in this way not only to lose weight, it has many other benefits, improves health and produces more energy.

Ingesting a large amount of carbohydrates, makes to work very heavy the pancreas, generating the insulin necessary for the digestion of all these carbohydrates and converts them into energy, now what happens if we have a sedentary  job and don’t do too much movement or exercise, we don’t consume that energy, then the body turns it into fat and stores it as reserves usually under the skin and goes around the waist and part of it is distributed throughout the body.

The Keto diet, is based on consuming the minimum possible carbohydrates and consume enough fat and protein, in that way the body is forced to produce small particles of energy called ketones, (hence the name Keto comes) Ketones are produced by the liver and this process begins consuming the fat accumulated previously to produce with it the necessary Calories to keep everything functioning properly, replacing in this way the Carbohydrates, this process has as a result that begins losing weight and not only that, the insulin is stabilized by the lack of carbohydrates and it comes to an increase of energy.

  • It is advisable to eat fat but from healthy foods, mainly those from animals that eat grass, or grains, such as butter, eggs, beef, chicken or turkey.
  • It is necessary to eat vegetables to get vitamins, but avoid all those that contain starch such as potatoes, beet, pumpkin.
  • You should not eat too much protein, because in excess it can become glucose and hinder the ketonic effect, it is advisable to eat protein (small amounts) but always accompanied by fat.
  • If you can do a Fast at least one day a week, for at least 10 to 15 hours, that will help make Ketones more easily and make you feel good.
